How suit sizing works
A size such as 44 Regular combines jacket chest size with jacket length. Many nested suits use about a 6-inch drop, so a 44 jacket commonly pairs with approximately a 38 waist pant.

An actual chest measurement is the best input. Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape level and comfortably snug.
